Weeks later and
the eighth edition of the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCA) is still
the talk of the town. Besides being an event that celebrates the movie industry
in Africa, the AMVCA is also an opportunity for Africa’s biggest film stars, in collaboration with their designers and stylists, to make strong fashion statements.
Usually, the
Red Carpet is the centre of attention; however, this year’s event was beyond
fabulous. From lush mesh to ruffles, regal fits to flamboyant sleeves to
corsets, stones, bows, and bold colours, the ‘Oscars of Africa’ (as the event
is often called), was a testament that the fashion industry is changing and
Africa is evolving with it too.
