I came across this tweet this morning and it really struck a chord with me.
Why? Because I dislike the terms BAME and BME because they have become a catch-all for anyone non-white. I'm not wholly comfortable being called a POC (person of colour) or WOC (woman of colour) which I feel are American terms so if I'm undecided on how I want to be referred to, no wonder white people are confused too.
I refer to myself as a Black Woman - and I'm comfortable with that but not everyone is.
